Monthly Scribblers Showcase for August

Hey folks. It is that time of month where we showcase the projects that Julie (our inspiration team of one) has created, along with any extra creations our full time team members may have had the chance to create during the past four weeks.

This time around, in addition to Julie's project we also have designs from Team Members Diane Louise and Pat. Take a look at what these ladies have been up to...

Have you been inspired to create?!
Don't forget to share your own Scribbles Designs creations with us.

If you enjoyed any of these projects, our designers would love a visit.
You can find each of their personal blogs by clicking on their respective header.

Challenge #68: Year of the Dog

Challenge #68
Year of the Dog

Hello everyone! Welcome to the Scribbles Designs Challenge blog. Whether you are new or one of our regulars, we are so thankful that you are here with us on our little spot in blogland. It is the 15th of the month and that means it is time for our next challenge to get started! Our theme for the next month is Year of the Dog and here is what you need to know to join us...

According to the Chinese Astrological Calendar, 2018 happens to be the Year of the Dog. Individuals born during the Year of the Dog (1934, 1946, 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994, 2006, 2018)  just happen to share the same characteristics as their canine counterparts with honesty and loyalty being top traits. They also happen to be the truest of friends and are very reliable as a partner. It is because of these characteristics that dogs are considered by many to be 'man's best friend'. The statistics support this idea with approximately 35% of Canadian households having a dog (Ipsos Reid, 2011), roughly 39% of American households having one (Psychology Today) and approximately 25% of UK households having one as well (Pet Food Manufacturers Association, 2013). With so many dog lovers out there AND with it happening to be the Year of the Dog, it is time to honour all the canine companions in our midst. That is why for this challenge, we are looking for dogs to take centre stage in your creation. Make sure that you have at least one dog as the primary focus of your creation. If you want to add a whole kennel of them, that is up to you but you just need to ensure there is at least one puppy or full grown dog on your project to be eligible to receive the prize. Hot diggety dog! We look forward to seeing who will be best in show.

Winners!!! Challenge #65 (Make it Masculine) & Challenge #66 (Anything Goes)

Winners!!!

Challenge #65
Make it Masculine, AND
Challenge #66
Anything Goes

Thank you to all those who entered
these two challenges!!

Oh dear, what a pickle. I'm not only late with the results from one challenge but TWO again! Thankfully I managed to find some time today to get the results posted. My hubby is off on a little camping adventure with two of his sisters and their husbands. Okay, it is more like glamping than camping, as I understand that it is an actual house that his sister and her husband built with additional sleeping cabins or something to that effect on the property. I haven't been feeling so hot for the last week or so, so it wasn't exactly something that I wanted to do myself. Well, that and I hate BUGS and since mosquitoes seem to have a scent marker specifically for my blood, I opted out. Thus, while he is out and about, approx. a three hour drive away on Manitoulin Island (Ontario, Canada), I'm taking the opportunity to get some extra work done. Thanks so much to Diane Louise, one of our team members, who once again had some time to help remind the team and then tabulate the results! That lady is a God send right now given how little time I seem to have for my online activities as of late.

Okay so this is how it is going to work. First I'll present the names of our Top Scribbler, Top Three and Gold Star recipient for Challenge #65 and then I will move on to #66. Hopefully it will be clear enough and there won't be any confusion. So, starting with #65 which was our Make it Masculine challenge, we were very happy to see so many of you join in. Normally, that type of theme can trip people up but apparently not our participants. We had just over 30 entries which is quite high for us. As always, the DT really enjoyed checking out all the incredible work that went into designing them.

An extra special thank you to those of you who used a Scribbles Designs image! It is always great to see entries with Sandy's images. Don't forget, if you enter using a Scribbles Designs image, you receive 2 entries per project and there are no limit to how many you can enter. However, it is important to let us know that you've used one of Sandy's images by adding SD after your name when you enter. This time around those that did use an SD image forget, and while I am able to catch them sometimes, I would hate to miss any.

Oh and just before we get to the results, I just had to mention this. Colour me surprised when I saw the name of our Gold Star recipient for Challenge #65. Remove an 's' from the surname and I'm staring at my own maiden name. 😀

Were you one of the lucky winners? Well, it is time to find out…

One down and one to go! Time now for the names of our Top Scribbler, Top Three and Gold Star recipient for Challenge #66 with the theme of Anything Goes. Once again we were happy that so many of you joined in. We had one more entry than during #65 topping off with a total of 32 fabulous creations for our DT to check out. It appears that at least three of those entries used a Scribbles Designs image. One entry was from a team member from The Crafter's Cafe Challenge blog as we sponsored their own challenge that particular month and the other two were from previous guest designers. Thanks ladies for joining us using an SD image!

Challenge #67 Midway: Fun in the Sun

Challenge #67
Fun in the Sun
Midway

Hello and welcome to the midway point of our current challenge. Here is a refresher of what the theme is all about:

Just a few months ago we were begging for the sun and some heat. Now many of us are begging for those colder temps again! I'm not sure if it is the result of the tropical storms, some other weather phenomena or just plain global warming but WARM it most definitely is in many parts of the world right now. We've definitely entered the lazy days of summer here in North America and other areas in the northern hemisphere.

Just think...sun bathing (make sure you have extra SPF on!), cool waters, splashing in the waves or the sprinkler, making sand castles, BBQs, picnics, camping, chasing fireflies at dusk, having fun outdoors and more! There are so many ways to have fun in the sun. That is why this month, we want to see your projects with any of the wonderful symbols associated with summertime. If you don't have the need for a summer card, that is okay too. As long as the items you use can be associated with summer, that is perfectly fine. For ex., you might want to use a sun image to create a card to bring a little bit of sunshine into someone's day. However you go about your task, it is time for some FUN IN THE SUN

There are still two weeks left in the challenge and we hope that you will be able to join us here on our spot in blog-land. We have had 17 awesome entries so far this month but we'd love to see some more!

Our incredibly talented women are back to showcase their amazing creative work featuring projects related to our Fun in the Sun theme. We hope that you will enjoy the Scribbles Designs images and the creative direction that ensues.
