Movember Mini Challenge
It's Movember--the hairiest month of the year!
Never heard of Movember? Well Brrr and the boys are here to tell you all about it.
Hey peeps! It's Brr here and I'm helping out Lisa and the gang today to teach you a little bit about what Movember is all about.
As you probably know, most men aren't as diligent with their heath as they should be. Movember was started as an initiative to help bring about awareness to this important cause. That is why the Movember Foundation was created. It is a global charity committed to helping men live happier, healthier, longer lives. Since 2003, millions have joined the men’s health movement, raising over $677 million and funding over 1,000 programs focusing on four specific areas that my good friend Mr. Wool is going to tell you about.
Thanks Brrr! While all aspects of men's health are important, there are four key areas that need to be focussed on in order to have a significant impact on men's health.
Now over to Carl...
Bonjour mes amis! Merci Monsieur Wool for your lead in. Did you know that prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in Canadian men? Oui, its true.
Monsieur Foxy will continue...
Hello all! Prostate cancer is not the only cancer that needs focussing on. Unfortunately, testicular cancer is the most common cancer in young Canadian men aged 15 – 29.
Other than cancer, there are still two areas that need mentioning and Frank is going to tell you about one of them...
Yes Foxy, thank you. There are two other important issues and I'm going to talk about the first of them.
Are you aware that roughly 11% of men in Canada will experience major depression in the course of their lives? Depression is only one mental health condition that needs to be addressed. There are so many more and that is why more research needs to be done.
Just one more to go and Porthos is going to talk about it...
Ummm guys...why am I the one being chosen to discuss inactivity? Anyway...Yes, the final key area that need to be focussed on is physical inactivity.
Sadly, only 1 in 4 Canadian men meet the exercise guideline of 150 minutes per week. Ummm..looks like I need to lace up my sneakers a bit more as I'm sure the rest of my fine friends here today, do as well.
Hedgie is up next to let you know how it all got started...
Thanks Porthos.
Did you know that Movember has been around since 2003?
One way to rally the men in your life would be to make a fabulous card using one of the images or sentiments above or one of the great Movember themed freebies Sandy has available (clicking on any of the above watermarks will take you to their location in the Scribbles Designs store).

Did you know that Movember has been around since 2003?
Two friends living in Melbourne, Australia, Travis Garone and Luke Slattery, met up one evening for a
quiet beer and the idea that sparked Movember was born. The moustache had all but disappeared from fashion trends.
Wondering whether they could bring it back, they found 30 guys willing to take up the
challenge.
It definitely, started a movement and the following year, with more awareness and others coming on board, over $50,000 was raised.
"B" is going to give you a glimpse of how far the movement has come over the last 12 years...
Thanks Hedgie! While the movement spent its first few years in Australia and then New Zealand, by 2007, other countries like Canada, the States, the UK and Spain came on board. Bringing the movement from 30 to over 200,000 people.
As of last year the stats were as follows. Countries participating now include: Australia, Austria, Belgium,
Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Hong Kong, Germany,
Ireland, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Singapore, South Africa,
Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, UK and USA. There are now close to 5,000,000 Mo Bros and Mo Sistas involved. This has created over $677 million being raised since 2003, funding 832 men’s health projects.
Our good friend Lisa is going to take it from here...
Our good friend Lisa is going to take it from here...
Thank you gentlemen for your wonderful introduction on what Movember is all about. I knew I count on your help to let our readers know about this important plight. As you will have noticed, our gang has been busy growing their moustaches these past two weeks in order to help bring awareness to this fabby cause. They even got together for a group portrait!
You can help support the cause too! Encourage the males in your life to become a Mo Bro or support the cause yourself and become a Mo Sista. You can find all the info you need over at the Movember Foundation by clicking HERE.
One way to rally the men in your life would be to make a fabulous card using one of the images or sentiments above or one of the great Movember themed freebies Sandy has available (clicking on any of the above watermarks will take you to their location in the Scribbles Designs store).
In fact, over the next two weeks we are going to have a mini challenge (in addition to our regular monthly challenge) to help encourage you to do just that!

Scribbles Designs Challenge #34 Fancy Folds or Shaped Cards
Fancy Folds or Shaped Cards
From Accordion and Gatefold Cards to Sidestep and Z-Fold Cards, there are so many different types of fancy folds or shaped cards to choose from. Most of us get into the rut of sticking with traditional square and rectangular cards. While these standard shaped cards serve their purpose, it is time to challenge ourselves and try something a bit different. This month we want to see you practicing different card folding techniques or at least presenting us a card with a different shape, such as a circle, bottle, cake, or baby onsie shaped card for example. It doesn't matter what kind of fancy fold or shaped card you present. As long as it is NOT square or rectangle, it will qualify for this month's draw. So, what will it be? Double Tent, Easel or PoP UP? Or maybe you'll go with Candle shaped, Scallop edged, or Christmas ornament shaped? This month thinking outside of the box, may actually be a box! We can't wait to see what you come up with!
