A Scandinavian Christmas
Hello everyone! Welcome to the Scribbles Designs Challenge blog. Whether you are new or one of our regulars, we are so thankful that you are here with us on our little spot in blogland.
Apologies to the team and to all our players for the lateness in getting this post out. I've been seriously sick and am now just getting back on my feet. I was unable to use the computer for over 10 days as a result. I can't even remember the last time I was away from the computer for more than a couple of days at a time nevermind 10 of them!
Being out for such a long time, I also didn't get a chance to introduce our newest team member, Katrina from ScrappyHorses, before her debut in this post. I'll do my best to get an introduction for her completed as soon as I am able.
Since we've already lost five days, it is high time for our next
challenge to get started!
We are doing something special for our
themes for our tenth year here at
Scribbles Designs, and that is to share each of our current DT's
favourite challenge themes. As we
are going in order of when each person joined the team, Nick is
choosing the theme this time around. We know that a Christmas themed
challenge in Mar/Apr. might be odd, but did you know that a very early
Christian tradition said that the date that Mary was told she would have
a very special baby was on March 25th, and it is a day that is still
celebrated in the present.
Nick happens to be a serious Santa collector and loves all things cozy and merry. Pair that with the fact that Nick is from Sweden, it is only fitting that our theme for this challenge be A Scandinavian Christmas, and here is what you need to know to join us...

*While each Scandinavian country has small differences in how they approach Christmas decorating, there’s an overall focus on NATURAL ELEMENTS like wood, flowers, and greenery, as well as a lot of the CLASSIC COLOURS such as red, green, gold, and silver. So, explore these kinds of ideas when crafting your project. Focal points could include: candles and/or holders; strings of lights; strings of flags; painted wood, straw, or felt ornaments; a star or angel for the top of the tree. Come explore a different culture (unless of course you happen to be Scandinavian yourself) and celebrate CHRISTMAS in the SCANDINAVIAN STYLE for this challenge.*
